I made a ton of lasting friendships. Management was always helpful and supportive whenever I needed anything, and all of my students parents were responsive and polite.

Pros Great students, amazing co workers, helpful management, school year calander.

Low pay. Was this review helpful? Report Share. I really enjoyed working at little friends. It was a stress free job for me, my coworkers were awesome and I felt supported. I worked at the school so the hours worked well for me. Pros My schedule, the support, positive work environment.

I would say overall my experience at little friends was great. I for the most part I very much enjoyed going to work everyday and looking forward to the challenges of that day. I wanted to get into working with children with autism so I could challenge myself as a person.

Pros You couldn't ask for better work hours.

Pay, short staffed. Once promoted to Health Services Director, the activities of the job became more palatable and enjoyable. The clients were the most wonderful individuals to work with, never a dull moment. Great place to gain experience. Multiple facets to the position that i held. I worked in multiple areas of the building and each area presented its own unique challenge to overcome. Your experience matters. Help out others considering your employer. Rate your employer.

Great Employees and flexable work schedule V. Little Friends is a not for profit social services agency who has suffered during Illinois' budget crisis. This leaves much of the staff over worked and under paid. That said, the level of passion that the employees bring to their clients makes the job rewarding.

Pay was very low even though it requires a college degree. Often taken away from caseload duties to cover for an absent employee. Turnover was very high.

Pros Helping others with disabilities. Low pay, not enough vacation time, having to cover for coworkers rather than management covering. Its all about what you take from it. There was not a typical day at work, various days called for various activities, i. Minimum daily activities included several medical passes for the clients, cooking dinner for everyone and keeping up with the mandated goals of each client.

However, if they have activities you are responsible for driving them.

End of the month activities included gathering all the clients goals tallying them, adding up the mileage on the van, end of the month budgeting to ensure all receipts matched what was going in and out of each clients bankand swapping out pill packets. All of this required hours of work which could not be completed at ased CILA but at the administration building.

I learned A LOT in my several weeks of training, especially since I did not specialize in this area while completely my degree. The workplace is petty, while I specifically did not have any issues, I had been told stories from multiple people to not trust the women that work in the Administration building because they would sell you out in a heartbeat.

You work alone during your entire shift so it is extremely important to find a groove otherwise it is impossible to get everything done. My manager was great though, she gave me her personal in case I needed anything during my shift or if I needed her to come watch my clients if I had to go to admin or too many activities to balance on my own. Every house and every client was different - more The bonds you can make with clients. Not a living wage. It is a good place if you have a loved one there.

They do care about making a difference in the community they serve. The pay is not good though and poor benefits. Pros easy to get hired there - no real standards. Special Education Paraprofessional. Residential Case Manager. Seasonal Paraprofessional.

Maintenance Assistant. Processing invoice, filing, faxing, shorting mail, customer service, vendor set up and manage vendor information, cut checks, daily deposits. Enjoyed working with the seniors, which allowed them to travel in and out of their living area. Working with seniors and to give them a chance to do things that many seniors with disabilites are not able to do.

I loved preparing meal and making them happy and hearing them say that they enjoyed the food. Pros Making the seniors happy. Missing them when not there. Little Friends is a great organization as whole; however, although classes and training are provided, on-the-job training was rigorous.

It was not a great fit for me. Pros Human interaction. A typical day of work at Little friends entailed, prepping meals, dispensing medication, and filing paperwork. Maintaining healthy dialogue with clients was also an essential task.

Pros flexible schedule. The staff here is great, and if you're looking to delve into special education, this a perfect starting point. Unfortunately, the pay is very little, and it's not enough to even support yourself. This would be a great job to work while you're in school. Very low paying.

A great place to work. This a great agency to work for. Working so closely with this population is a great fulfillment and a wonderful life experience. Pros Helping individual who are less capable to help themselves.

Not for profit means not much money. Transport clients. Set up work stations. Plan activities. I have learned that people need people and how to be a team player. My co-workers are wonderful. Hardest part is leaving for the day cause we have so much fun as a group.
